Miss Fatima Sughra

An unsung and unknown female heroic figure of the Pakistan Independence Movement. In 1947, Miss Fatima Sughra (14 years old at that time) pulled down the Union Jack from the Civil Secretariat Lahore and replaced it with a green Muslim League flag. Sughra later received gold medal of service from the Government of Pakistan. Today Fatima Sughra, now 80, lives in the old city of Lahore.
