As the clock struck 12:00 AM, revelers sprayed fireworks and resorted to aerial fire in different cities of the country. They also started dancing to the beat of drum.

Special new year programs are being held in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and other cities.

In Karachi new year was welcomed with a massive fireworks at Port Grand.

Meanwhile, all routes leading to sea view have been blocked by placing containers, while the residents of Defence and Clifton areas have been asked not to come out of their homes on the eve of new year.

In Lahore, heavy contingent of police have been deployed at Mall Road due to security reasons.
